Amilia is 4 months old.  She had her vaccines yesterday and so we got her a new chair because she doesn't like getting vaccines.  She's happy now.  She is now 23" and just about 12 pounds.  She is growing so fast.

San Francisco Zoo

Amilia visited the SF Zoo today.  She seemed to enjoy the water that was spraying out at the penguin exhibit.  She mostly enjoyed mommy and daddy's faces.  She smiles and laughs when we make faces now.  She slept most of the day.  We think she is going through another growth spurt.  She has been hungry and a little cranky over the last few days.

First vacation

Amilia went on her first vacation last week.  She has quite a journey.  First airplane ride and first time visiting another state.  Sure she won't remember it, but that's what this blog is for.  She was perfect on her first (and second) airplane ride.  She slept the whole time, during take off and landing. We arrived in Denver in the evening and headed to the hotel where Amilia was going to meet her future God parents and her older cousin for the first time.  When she met Bennett for the first time, he was a little too much for her since he is in the active phase of his development.  However, by the end of the trip, they were beginning to be ok with each other. Amilia attended Aronn's graduation and slept the entire time.  She woke up about 15 minutes before it was finished and she had to eat.  Not bad for a 3 month old at a 2-3 hour event. She also visited  Dinosaur Ridge , but it was hot and we had to keep her cool to keep h...

Sorry, catching up on some photos since we haven't been staying with the "daily" part of the theme. Tish in San Mateo, May 25, 2016 Amilia in San Mateo, May 25, 2016 Thanks cousin Ildi! :)

3 months and counting... (Video)

Amilia is trying hard to talk.  I hope she is an over achiever as she continues to grow and develop.  By the way, she is growing out of clothes like crazy!  She is starting to gain control over her hands and arms.  She is focusing on us and smiling.  Her smiles definitely do something to our soul. We apologize the the lack of Daily Photo posts as it's been busy in the Farris household.  We are still in the process of buying a house (for Mia).  It's hard to find a place with good schools, good neighbors, square footage, and lastly cost.  The Bay Area prices make it difficult, but we are forging ahead.

...and we're back!

Hi Amilia fans! As you may have notice, this site was down!  Blame daddy!  He was updating another site that this blog is attached to (jamesafarris.info), which is daddy's portfolio site and KABOOM! There went the portfolio site and this one. Nonetheless, after many conversations with the website hosting company, we are back. Sorry if this caused you to go through Amilia update withdrawals.  We're back and everything is OK. :)

8 Weeks Old!

Amilia is 8 weeks old today!  She is growing so fast! We last weighed her and she was 9 pounds.  She has outgrown some of her clothes already and has the beginning of a great personality (as seen below) 8 weeks old

In case you haven't seen her yet, or haven't seen her in a while, this was Amilia last night side-by-side with her newborn onesie.  She fit the onesie on the left just a little over a week ago.  She has been hungry and fussy lately.  We clearly know why. Amilia is growing

We gave Amilia a bath in her own bathtub this morning and it was a success.  No fuss, just content with the process. Thanks to mommy's co-worker for the bath cover.  I think it helped to keep her warm and happy. Bath time is now fun - April 9, 2016

6 Weeks Old!

It's been a few days since we posted anything. Sorry, we have been keeping Amilia to ourselves. Today Amilia is 6 weeks old! She is over 8 pounds now. She is so much bigger from when we first met her. We can't tell, but when we look back at our first photos with her, it's pretty amazing how much she has grown. She is starting to have better head, arm, and leg control. She is even at the beginning stages of understanding her hand-eye coordination. She will try to grab objects hanging in front of her with her hands. She also is staring at faces more and her facial expressions are priceless. Some of them make mom and dad laugh, because she gets a angry eyebrow when she wakes up and one of us are in her face. We'll try to capture it on video. It's great. Medically she has been great, with the exception of battling gas that upsets her. It's a lot better than it was a few weeks ago, but it still comes and goes. Other than the gas, she also has acid r...

The shirt says it all. Amilia - 5 weeks and 3 days old

Bath time IS fun (on April Fool's Day!)

Amilia is 5 weeks old today!  Last week we figured out bath time.  As mentioned  here  and  here , Amilia does not like baths.  We tried the first bath, then the next bath we tested the temperature with a thermometer, so finally we decided we were going to get into the bath with her.  Success! She likes to be with someone while taking a bath and twice has been comfortable from start to finish.  Soon we will try to go back to an independent bath to see how she does.  For now, she is clean and is getting used to the water. Here is Amilia after her bath today.  Content and relaxed in her chair. Amilia's bathtime - April 1, 2016

Amilia's first Easter and first Easter card

1 month old and Happy First Easter!

Amilia is 1-month old as of yesterday (March 25).  Time is going by so fast.  She is starting to react to sound and focusing on different objects for a short period.  She still has "crazy arms" where she can't quite move them into place, but you can certainly see the progress.  She is now about 7 pounds 10 ounces. We are getting down a routine now, because she wakes up every three hours.  Mommy takes the night shift at 3 a.m. to feed and daddy takes the early morning shift at 6 a.m.  This helps us get ready for when daddy goes back to work, so he can sleep at night. At this point, the only thing Amilia has that makes her uncomfortable is gas pains.  We are helping her with tummy massages and gas relief medication for infants.  It seems to be helping. She's been a good baby and we are grateful she is healthy and doing well.  We see the doctor on Monday for the official check up. Tomorrow is Easter, so we'll leave you with this... Tomorro...

Romeo

Romeo left us suddenly this morning to go on and reunite with his best friend Aries and our son Adam. This morning started like any other morning.  Amilia wakes up ready to eat, Romeo is "silent" barking in the front room because he needs to be expressed, is hungry, and wants to change the scenery (or switch sides he was laying on.)  We ask each other who wants to take care of Amilia and who wants to take care of Romeo.  Today it was mommy's turn to take care of Romeo, so daddy changed and fed Amilia.  As Romeo was eating in his cart in the front room, Amilia was getting a bottle and a new diaper in the bedroom.  Just a normal morning. When Romeo is done eating he gets put back in to bed on the opposite side he was laying on.  Mommy always makes sure his head is comfortable, so his neck doesn't get stiff. But today was different.  After Romeo was put back into bed he fell asleep silently, unknowingly to us he passed away.  It was no more ...

3 weeks old today

Amilia is 3 weeks old already!  Today is also the date she was supposed to be due.  We decided awhile back with the suggestion of the doctor to have her 3 weeks early to avoid any complications the longer we wait.  The good thing is she is healthy and doing well. She is doing "tummy time" everyday and everyday we see her getting stronger.  We also talk to her and read to her.  Even though she doesn't understand, she is hopefully hearing the tones in our voices as we read to her so she can develop her speaking skills in English (and Hungarian). She is starting to get on a schedule, sleeping for about 3 1/2 hours at a time.  Hopefully that will increase so we can get a decent amount of sleep.  Regardless of the lack of sleep, we love her and we are very happy she is healthy and developing well. We look forward to the two month mark when she gets all of her vaccinations and we can start taking her to more places.

A victory for the orcas at Sea World

Amilia is celebrating the next step in the right direction for captive animals.  Today she celebrates with us that Sea World will no longer breed orcas.  Here is the  online article  from the CEO himself.  This has been in the news since 2013 when the documentary " Blackfish " was introduced to the public.  You can learn more about the documentary here:  http://www.blackfishmovie.com/  or you can watch it on  Netflix   .  A warning that what you will see in the movie is quite disturbing and eye opening and was a big reason why we are posting this today.
